HTC in freefall - Mobile

Taiwanese company hopes to reverse the loss trend through the flagship handset HTC One seems to have struck home, even though the handset has been generally well received by reviewers worldwide.

a profit of 1.25 billion Taiwan dollars after tax in the second quarter of this year, about 2.83 million kronor (from 70.7 billion in revenue) is down by 83 percent year on year. Company revenue for the same period in 2012 was 7.40 billion Taiwanese dollars after taxes, about 16.7 million (from 91.04 billion in revenue). Are you supposed to be positive about it like this is the second quarter still better than Q1 2013, however, was HTC’s worst ever with a 98 percent down running.

One, which according to HTC sold five million units in the first fifty days after launch, in and of itself helped to lift the numbers for the month of May, but after that, the interest among consumers cooled. In June, the numbers are worse and the question is whether the wide availability of the then launched Samsung Galaxy S4 may be an influencing factor.
