id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> Sluggish sales of the HTC First have reportedly prompted AT & T to discontinue sales of the smartphone, the first to come pre-loaded with the Facebook Home experience.

id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> According To BGR, Which cited a “trusted source,” sales of the HTC First havebeen “shockingly bad,” prompting AT & T to discontinue the smartphone.

id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> The blog said unsold smartphone will be returned to HTC. BGR did not have sales figures, but cited a source who said AT & T sold Fewer than 15,000 First HTC devices before it recently dropped the smartphone’s price from $ 99 to $ 0.99.

id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> “As mentioned Previously, we do pricing promotions all the time and have made no decisions’ on future plans,” an AT & T spokeswoman said in a statement.

id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> Facebook Declined to comment, PCMag Referring to AT & T. An HTC spokesman said the company does not comment on rumor or speculation.

id=”intellitxt” name=”intellitxt”> Facebook Home hit the Google Play store on April 12 as an app for the HTC One X, HTC One X +, Samsung Galaxy S III, and the Samsung Galaxy Note II. It also came pre-loaded on the HTC First, Which was released EXCLUSIVELY on AT & T the same day.

Facebook Home is somewhere between an app and a mobile operating system. It brings the Facebook news feed and chat functionality front and center, allo wing for Easier access to the social network. The offering is “a new way to turn your Android phone into a great, living, social phone,” Facebook said.

In recent days, it is overpriced quietly rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One.

Facebook saidthat Home downloads have topped 1 million, but it did not reveal the number of active users. So while 1 million people might have downloaded the app and tried it out, it’s not clear how many people Continued to use it versus Those Who uninstalled.

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg said recently That Home will expand to other devices down the line. During an earnings call, Zuckerberg said Home is an “important milestone,” though he stressed That it’s “still very early.”

If true, this would make the HTC First the latest “Facebook Phone” to flop. Previous phones with a big Facebook emphasis, like the HTC Status, overpriced failed to take off.
