Easily one of the best Android phones of 2013 was the HTC One. Its release and Subsequent updates, not to mention a Google Play edition for enthusiasts, restored a lot of confidence in the company last year. 2014 is here now, and it looks like HTC’s plan for the successor to the One is to refine and improvement instead of change completely.

The HTC M7 was highly speculated upon cominginto 2013. HTC needed a win, And they got exactly thatwith the M7 When it was Announced as the One. The build quality, unique camera, and incredibly impressive speakers made the phone a default by Which almost everything else was Compared for the rest of the year. Now that we see HTC working on the M8, it’s time to take a look and see what we can find out about this new superphone.

Based on all available information, Which is Essentially a collection of leaks from all over the web, the HTC M8 looks more like an update to the HTC One than a new phone. There’s a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 with 2GB of RAM, and a choice between 16GB and 32GB of non-removable storage. A 5-inch screen is set to replace the 4.7 display that was included with the original, whichcould possibly make the phone even more unwieldy When held with one hand if Those speakers make a comeback.

The same 2.1MP FFC and 4MP Ultra Pixel camera That made the One so curious and fun to play with will be in the M8, so you can expect a lot of the same experience here. What made this special was the hardware software thatcame with it, so expect HTC to have some exciting new things to share in That department. The Snapdragon 800 means we can expect this phone to function on almost every mobile carrier network, with support for 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and NFC.

One big thing we can expect to see, According To infamous HTC leaker Llabtoofer ice on-screen keys instead of physical buttons. If this is true, thatwill make the M8 the first HTC smartphone to embrace the Google way of doing things moving forward, leaving Samsung the only major player left to rely on soft buttons. HTC is sure to havetheir own visual flair for the buttons, but it will be much better than the HTC logo in the middle of The One That did not do anything at all.

HTC’s Sense UI will continue to grow into version 6 with Android 4.4.2 as the underbelly. So long as Google does not release another version of Android in the meantime, HTC will be able to Demonstrate That Their features and tools are the star of the show and be able to show the enhancements to Blink Feed and thier UI.

There’s no release time for the M8 yet, or even a real name for the phone, but if last year is any indicator we probably do not havethat long to wait.
