HTC's first loss ever - Mobile

all the talk of HTC’s crisis, with a market plunged and closing numbers far from the glory days, it’s easy to forget that the company actually made a profit all the time. But not anymore, for the last quarter HTC now reports a loss of over 642 million after tax. This on a turnover of approximately SEK 10.1 billion, compared to almost 15 billion in revenue for the period before. HTC’s sales then fell by almost a third to a quarter.

Meanwhile, HTC new overtures from Microsoft, who obviously wants more manufacturers to make Windows Phone handsets even after it bought up the Nokia mobile manufacturing.

Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft operativsystemdel, want Windows Phone to be a second choice of operating system for HTC’s buyers of Android mobiles. Exactly what he meant by this is unclear, but it is understood that he would like to see HTC phones with a dual boot solution for Android and Windows Phone.

To sweeten the proposal is adopted Microsoft have offered to reduce or completely abolish the license fee for Windows Phone. Terry Myerson will visit HTC’s headquarters in Taiwan later in October to discuss the proposal.
