Smarter watches showcases HTC - Mobile

it does not go well for HTC is widely known. In an interview with the Financial Times suggests HTC’s CEO Peter Chou and co-founder Cher Wang (now also market and sell the reply) that the company is working on a smart watch, but at the same time points out that it will not be launched quickly.

Chou think that today’s smart watches have shortcomings because they are not usable in “everyday life” and that in itself provides a great opportunity for HTC to launch something better, without him having go further into details.

“It’s still too early. Much of what we see in the market today is the first version with experiences that lacks style., the (clock) must meet a need, or is it just a gimmick or a concept. People laughed at us when we launched the first smart phone … Now everyone has a smart phone. I’m pretty sure it will be the same with wearables, but do not judge based on what is on the market (now), “says Chou.

Apparently HTC already have dipped their toes in the development of smart watches. Chou would not reveal any details, but the company is several years ago have had a development agreement the Microsoft.

New album on time

During the interview indicated also that HTC may be heading back into the flat segment, but also where it is vague with details.

“When the record does come out, it will be nice and subversive. There are many devices to innovate. Ubiquitous intelligence is not just about wearables,” says Wang.

When it comes to HTC’s survival so is Peter Chou positive.

“The market is really great. HTC is a small business. fact that we are to be competitive and survive is not a big problem. HTC has a good opportunity to take 15 percent market share in the premium segment and 5 percent of the global market would be a pretty good number for us. People have to look at it the right way, instead of saying that we have to beat the other actor who has 50 percent of the market. ”
