Nokia and HTC ends patent dispute - Computer Sweden

Nokia and HTC has put a long patent dispute, which has taken place in many countries, and has also led to a number of HTC phones have been excluded from some European countries.

class=”paragraphIntro”> The two mobile giants has replaced the earlier dispute with a collaboration that will replace all previous court cases. No details are revealed, but HTC will pay Nokia an undisclosed amount. The cooperation between the companies intend HTC’s patents for LTE technology used for data transfer in high-speed networks in many countries.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Both Nokia’s patent manager Paul Melin and HTC’s General Counsel Grace Lei is happy with the agreement. Since 2012, Nokia has claimed that HTC encroached upon 50 patents and launched a large number of unauthorized innovations. The dispute has played out in courts including Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.

In October, a court ruled in Britain that HTC violated a number of patents regarding network standards from Nokia. The Finnish mobile giant, which is about to be bought by Microsoft, has previously received through a sales ban on HTC One Mini in the UK, as a result of the element.
